This role is pivotal in enhancing our stewardship responsibilities within the Asia Pacific region, focusing on sustainability, governance, and corporate strategy.  About the Role

The Director of Corporate Finance & Stewardship will serve as the key representative for the Asia Pacific region, liaising with company management on crucial sustainability issues. This role involves monitoring company performance, advising fund managers on corporate transactions, and managing proxy voting processes. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our stewardship activities align with central policies and effectively engage with investee companies.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain and nurture relationships with management teams at listed companies in the APAC region.
  • Manage engagement projects aimed at achieving specific investment and commercial outcomes.
  • Ensure a consistent approach to stewardship activities across the Asia Pacific, particularly concerning sustainability.
  • Advise fund managers on corporate transactions and manage the wall crossing process as needed.
  • Collaborate with analysts to effectively communicate primary research findings to portfolio companies.
  • Oversee shareholder voting processes and ensure timely engagement with voting teams.
  • Liaise with external governance bodies and contribute to the broader Corporate Finance & Stewardship agenda.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships with key opinion leaders in Japan.


Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of listed corporations in the APAC region, especially in Japan.
  • Experience engaging with boards and senior management teams at listed companies.
  • Familiarity with capital raising processes and corporate activities.
  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks surrounding shareholder engagement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • A proactive attitude towards building relationships and problem-solving.
  • Language skills in Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin are preferred.
