We are seeking a seasoned Talent Development leader to drive the strategic talent roadmap across multiple brands in Japan. This role is central to shaping future leadership, strengthening organizational capability, and fostering cross-brand collaboration at the mid-to-senior management level. Acting as both a local and global partner, the position plays a key role in ensuring alignment between Japan and the global talent strategy.
About the Role
The Head of Talent Development will design and lead initiatives that focus on leadership development, talent pipelining, and internal mobility, with particular emphasis on Director-level and future leaders. This individual will serve as the central orchestrator for cross-brand talent programs, partner closely with HR and business leaders, and represent Japan within global forums. The role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution to ensure sustainable talent growth.
Responsibilities
- Talent Strategy & Career Development
- Design and execute talent strategies to strengthen leadership capabilities.
- Collaborate with HR partners and leaders to implement individual development plans supporting succession planning.
- Conduct regular talent reviews to maintain a forward-looking talent pipeline.
- Identify and nurture high-potential talent and critical roles for future growth.
- Cross-Brand Collaboration & Program Leadership
- Design and lead cross-brand training and leadership programs aligned with organizational values.
- Serve as the central orchestrator of talent development initiatives, ensuring consistency and innovation.
- Support and develop talent development representatives within each brand.
- Global Partnership & Representation
- Represent Japan in global discussions, articulating local needs and contributing best practices.
- Influence global strategies by sharing insights and talent development innovations.
- Team & Community Leadership
- Foster a collaborative environment across brands, promoting a culture of development.
- Mentor and empower HR partners and talent development representatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- 5–7 years of HR/Talent Development experience within a global, matrixed organization.
- Previous HR Business Partner experience and strong understanding of talent strategy.
- Proven commercial sense and ability to partner with business leaders.
- Experience in B2C industries (fashion, beauty, luxury, consumer goods); retail exposure is a plus.
- Fluency in both English and Japanese (written and verbal).
- Strong leadership presence and ability to represent the Japan market globally.
- Experience working across multiple brands or business units.
