About the Role

As the Senior Regional Commercial Development Manager, you will lead the execution of the three-year channel strategy and commercial plans for the Japan Business Unit. Working closely with regional and global stakeholders, you will oversee key commercial processes, drive portfolio differentiation, optimize trade investments, and implement globally developed tools and capabilities. This role is a vital part of the regional commercial development function, aligning global priorities with local business needs.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the three-year channel strategy for the Japan Business Unit.
  • Deliver and govern regional commercial planning processes, including Integrated Commercial Planning (ICP), Customer Business Planning (CBP), and annual Customer Pulse.
  • Drive portfolio differentiation and segmentation in collaboration with regional and marketing teams.
  • Optimize trade investment by deploying customer segmentation models and multi-channel pricing frameworks.
  • Implement global sales tools, technologies, and processes through structured change management programs.
  • Oversee trade investment reviews and budget processes in partnership with finance.
  • Develop and deliver sales training and capability-building initiatives for the sales team.
  • Contribute as a member of the Japan Business Unit leadership team, influencing the commercial agenda.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (e.g., Marketing, Logistics, Customer Service) to assess and implement new business initiatives.
  • Partner with global and regional commercial development colleagues to ensure alignment and support.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proven track record in Sales, Key Account Management, Commercial Consultancy, or Customer Marketing roles.
  • Experience in consumer goods industries is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, serving as both a challenger and supporter.
  • Strategic thinker with robust commercial acumen and the ability to operate in ambiguous situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with sales tools and systems preferred.
  • Experience working in Japan or other APAC markets is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
