About the Role
The Retail Development & Performance Manager is responsible for leading the implementation of the retail strategy, ensuring operational efficiency, enhancing customer experience, and driving sell-out performance across all channels. Reporting to the National Sales Director, this role serves as the key liaison between headquarters and field teams, ensuring alignment, innovation, and excellence in retail operations.
This role manages multiple functions, including field coaching, private sales, national ambassador programs, retail marketing operations, and store administration. You will also lead the development and optimization of new and existing retail spaces, tools, and processes.
Responsibilities
Retail Performance Management
- Guide and challenge retail budget development, including KPIs and P&L performance.
- Analyze and benchmark retail metrics across markets and stores.
- Evaluate retail tool ROI using both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop action plans that elevate retail performance.
- Organize and present Retail Scorecards, performance reviews, and workshops.
- Align in-store activation plans with overall retail strategy.
- Manage customer experience tracking and clienteling initiatives (NPS, Mystery Shopping, VIP engagement).
Retail Operations Management
- Implement and refine operational tools and store communications (e.g., newsletters, master planning).
- Improve POS processes, including personalization services and stock handling.
- Support architectural and merchandising efficiency at POS level.
- Oversee third-party retail service providers (e.g., engraving, music, delivery).
- Lead annual updates to the Store Handbook and assist with store openings and audits.
- Support Area Managers with workload planning and inventory processes.
- Drive system rollouts and updates in collaboration with IT (e.g., Salesforce, payment systems).
Distribution Strategy
- Assess store productivity to inform distribution strategy, including store closures or expansions.
- Support the pitching and execution of high-end retail introductions and new store concepts.
- Lead CAPEX presentations for approval of retail projects.
Retail Marketing & Private Sales Operations
- Collaborate on the strategy and execution of high and small profile promotions and pop-ups.
- Lead the development and execution of high-value client (VVIC) events in partnership with CRM.
- Define and manage strategies for exclusive and exceptional product lines.
National Ambassador Program
- Identify and prioritize retail performance needs across channels and events.
- Develop tools and career paths to empower National Ambassadors.
Change Management & Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Digital, Education, Finance, IT) to build omnichannel services.
- Act as a field advocate to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Drive acceptance and implementation of strategic initiatives through workshops and field engagement.
- Lead continuous improvement and change management efforts across the retail organization.
Requirements
- Degree from a business school, university, or engineering program.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in retail management or consulting with a focus on retail strategy and tools.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Skilled in team motivation, cross-functional collaboration, and field engagement.
- Proactive, innovative, and adaptable with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English.
