Introduction

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior HR Business Partner / Site Lead to spearhead the human resources strategy for its Japan operations. This is a pivotal role, combining strategic partnership with hands-on leadership of HR operations, including employee relations, compliance, and talent management. About the Role

As the Senior HRBP and Site Lead, you will act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership while overseeing the full spectrum of HR responsibilities in Japan. Reporting to the Regional Head of People Partnering, you will be a core member of the Japan leadership team and work closely with global and regional HR functions to deploy initiatives that align with business goals. The role also entails oversight of day-to-day HR operations, local governance, and administrative support.


Responsibilities
  • Serve as the key driver of all people-related initiatives in Japan, aligning HR strategies with business objectives.
  • Act as a coach and sparring partner to the Japan GM and leadership team.
  • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, talent management, and employee engagement efforts.
  • Ensure governance and compliance with HR policies, labor laws, and EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) regulations.
  • Oversee HR operations including employee relations, benefits administration, and company handbooks.
  • Lead labor policy management including updates, revisions, and execution.
  • Manage governmental reporting and ensure statutory HR obligations are met.
  • Supervise and support executive assistant/office administrator for general administrative functions.
  • Collaborate with global Centers of Excellence (CoEs) and operational teams to implement HR solutions.
  • Directly manage one HR team member while driving leadership across functions.


Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (preferred).
  • HR-related qualification or certification.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive HR experience, with a strong background in HR business partnering.
  • Broad exposure to various HR functions, including compensation & benefits and mobility.
  • Experience in a global matrix organization is essential.
  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders across all levels and regions.
  • Solid understanding of organizational development and project management methodologies.
  • Open-minded, structured, and collaborative approach to problem-solving and team engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in Japanese and business-level English.
