Introduction

We are seeking a motivated professional to join a leading asset management firm in Tokyo as an Assistant Vice President in Strategy & Onboarding. This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth client transitions and operational excellence for institutional accounts, supporting both local and regional business objectives.


 About the Role

The AVP, Strategy & Onboarding, will be responsible for managing account onboarding, product launches, and related transition events for institutional clients. The position requires close collaboration with internal teams across APAC and global offices, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure a seamless experience for clients. Given the unique requirements of the Japanese market, the role involves coordinating communications, documentation, and operational processes in both Japanese and English.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute account onboarding, product launch, and termination processes, working closely with local, overseas, and external teams.
  • Manage miscellaneous account events, including guideline updates, custodian changes, portfolio inflows/outflows, account restructures, and operational adjustments.
  • Implement and maintain account and portfolio master data.
  • Maintain and provide assets under management (AUM) and product information for marketing, RFPs, and reporting purposes.
  • Support the reporting team by producing, reviewing, and distributing simplified reporting materials.
  • Actively participate in process improvements and project initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.


Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in the financial industry, preferably in asset management, with a basic understanding of investment operations and account setup for funds and separate accounts.
  • University degree or higher.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive, self-managing, and able to prioritize work efficiently under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Strong project management skills and confidence in leading conference calls and coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive approach to process improvements and change management.
