About the Role
This position sits within the Corporate Development Division and is responsible for leading strategic transactions and business development initiatives across the group on both a domestic and global scale.
The successful candidate will work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive complex transactions and strategic projects from ideation through execution. The role requires strong commercial judgment, financial and strategic analysis capabilities, and the ability to manage senior internal and external stakeholders.
This hire is viewed as a future leadership candidate within the organization, with the potential to take on broader management responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute M&A transactions, strategic investments, joint ventures, alliances, and divestitures across the group
- Develop and evaluate business growth strategies and inorganic expansion opportunities
- Conduct financial analysis, valuation modeling, commercial assessments, and strategic due diligence
- Partner closely with business units, corporate functions, and senior leadership to support strategic decision-making
- Manage negotiations and communications with external stakeholders including advisors, financial institutions, legal counsel, and counterparties
- Prepare executive-level presentations, investment materials, and strategic recommendations for top management and board-level discussions
- Drive end-to-end project management across multiple concurrent strategic initiatives
- Support post-deal integration and strategic execution where applicable
- Mentor and manage junior team members while contributing to the development of the broader organization
Requirements
Must-have:
- Experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, strategic finance, or related fields within a corporation or financial institution
- Prior people management experience, even within small teams
- Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building capabilities
- High level of ownership, commitment, and execution ability
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English communication and negotiation skills
Preferred:
- MBA or equivalent advanced business qualification
- Experience in corporate management or business leadership roles
- Exposure to cross-border transactions and global business environments
Additional Information:
- English proficiency equivalent to TOEIC 800+ preferred (900+ strongly preferred)
