About the Role
As a Senior Institutional Sales professional, you will be responsible for driving business growth across Japan by developing new institutional client relationships while deepening existing partnerships with banks, insurance companies, government-related institutions, and other financial organizations.
You will represent a broad range of multi-manager investment solutions, discretionary investment services, and strategic asset allocation capabilities, partnering closely with investment specialists, portfolio managers, and global colleagues to deliver tailored solutions that address clients' long-term investment objectives.
This is a highly visible, client-facing role offering the opportunity to influence the firm's continued growth in Japan while working within a collaborative, international environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies targeting Japanese institutional investors.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision makers across banks, insurance companies, government-related investors, and other financial institutions.
- Identify new business opportunities and secure institutional investment mandates.
- Deliver high-quality relationship management and ongoing servicing for existing clients.
- Present multi-asset investment solutions, outsourced investment management services, and portfolio strategies to institutional investors.
- Partner with investment specialists, portfolio managers, operations teams, and global colleagues to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
- Collaborate with business leadership to develop both short- and long-term growth strategies for the institutional business in Japan.
- Represent the firm as a trusted advisor while strengthening its market presence and reputation.
Requirements
- Significant institutional sales experience within an asset management firm, investment consulting firm, or financial institution.
- Proven track record of developing relationships with Japanese institutional investors and winning new business.
- Strong understanding of institutional investment products and multi-asset investment solutions.
- Excellent relationship management, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
- Ability to work effectively across global and cross-functional teams.
- Business-level Japanese and English communication skills (spoken and written).
