Introduction Our client, a global organization undergoing a significant transformation in HR operations, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR professional to establish and lead a newly created HR Shared Services function. About the Role The Manager/Senior Manager, HR Shared Services, will be responsible for designing and managing the company’s HR shared services model, starting with the implementation of AskHR (HR Shared Services). Reporting to the Vice President of HR for Japan, with a dotted line to a senior consulting leader, the role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on implementer who can navigate complex HR operations, standardize processes, and drive continuous improvements.
The successful candidate will work closely with HR leadership to manage operational efficiencies, create standard operating procedures, and ensure alignment with business objectives. This role is ideal for someone with extensive HR operations experience, particularly in setting up and scaling shared services functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of the HR shared services function, starting with AskHR.
- Develop and standardize HR policies, FAQs, and operating procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Oversee payroll processes and HR operations, ensuring compliance with local and global regulations.
- Act as a key point of contact for HR service delivery, ensuring a smooth transition and adoption of shared services.
- Work closely with business leaders to manage pushback, navigate organizational change, and gain stakeholder buy-in.
- Leverage technology to optimize HR operations and drive automation where applicable.
- Manage data integrity, reporting, and analytics to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with IT and other business functions to expand shared services beyond HR.
- Develop and manage a high-performing HR operations team.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in HR operations, with a proven track record in HR shared services implementation.
- Strong background in HR process optimization, policy development, and service delivery.
- Experience in leading or managing payroll and benefits administration.
- High level of proficiency in Excel, Word, and HR systems.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and evolving environment, with experience handling organizational pushback.
- Consulting experience or exposure to transformation projects is highly desirable.
- APAC experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to work independently while also engaging and influencing senior leadership.
