 About the Role

We are seeking a senior leader to head the Health & Benefits business in Japan. This role carries full P&L responsibility and is accountable for driving profitable growth, strengthening market positioning, and delivering high-impact client solutions.

The successful candidate will define and execute the business strategy, shape compelling client value propositions, and lead a high-performing team. This is a strategic and client-facing leadership role requiring a balance of commercial acumen, technical expertise, and people leadership.


Responsibilities

Financial & Commercial Leadership

  • Own and deliver the country-level business plan, including revenue, profitability, and market share growth
  • Identify and drive cross-selling opportunities across the broader platform
  • Partner with business development and client management teams to originate and close strategic opportunities
  • Build and deepen relationships with key clients and external stakeholders


Client Leadership

  • Lead and oversee complex client engagements, ensuring high-quality delivery
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, providing strategic guidance on benefits and workforce topics
  • Diagnose client challenges and develop tailored, value-driven solutions
  • Collaborate across geographies and business lines to deliver integrated solutions

Operational Excellence & Thought Leadership

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on benefits trends, regulatory developments, and market dynamics
  • Ensure strong governance, quality control, and delivery standards across all engagements
  • Contribute to the development and commercialization of new solutions, tools, and intellectual capital
  • Build market presence and enhance the firm’s brand through external engagement

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a high-performance culture
  • Drive talent strategy including hiring, development, performance management, and retention
  • Allocate resources effectively and ensure appropriate technical support across projects
  • Collaborate with broader leadership to achieve country-level strategic objectives


Requirements

Technical Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in health and group benefits (e.g., life, disability, wellbeing programs)
  • Background in consulting, brokerage, insurance, or actuarial environments
  • Strong understanding of local regulatory frameworks and market practices
  • Deep knowledge of insurer and vendor landscape within the benefits ecosystem
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to derive insights from data


Project & Delivery

  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results on time and within budget
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and implement solutions
  • Ability to connect day-to-day execution with broader strategic objectives


Communication & Client Management

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong stakeholder management and client engagement capabilities
  • High level of professionalism and responsiveness
