A global manufacturing and technology leader is seeking an experienced logistics professional to oversee transportation and warehouse operations in Japan. About the Role

This role will serve as the head of logistics operations in Japan, responsible for managing both in-house and third-party distribution centers (3PL), with a direct team of approximately 20 staff members. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in warehouse and transportation management, including vendor negotiation, KPI reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports to a global leadership team and requires strong communication skills in both Japanese and English.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the overall performance of transportation and 3PL-operated distribution centers across Japan
  • Drive logistics initiatives that align with company goals and support overall business growth
  • Directly manage a team of ~20 members and oversee 3PL warehouse operations (located in Kakegawa, Shizuoka)
  • Lead team development through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning
  • Manage procurement of local contracts for distribution centers and freight
  • Optimize cost efficiency while enhancing customer satisfaction through operational excellence
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate effectively across departments and global functions


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in logistics, with a strong focus on warehouse operations
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale warehouses, preferably over 30,000㎡
  • Hands-on experience with 3PL operations and contract management
  • Strong leadership and people management experience
  • Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English (essential for team and global stakeholder communication)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with SAP SD, MM, and WM modules
  • Experience with LEAN or similar operational improvement methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset
  • Background in automotive or automated warehouse environments is a plus
