We are supporting a strategic search for a visionary Marketing Director to spearhead the Japan growth strategy for a prestigious global leader in medical technology. This is a high-impact, urgent appointment designed for a leader who can bridge the gap between global brand standards and local market nuances to drive excellence. As the primary architect of the region’s market presence, you will transform data-driven insights into high-performance commercial outcomes.


About the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director Japan, you will lead a dedicated marketing department of specialized professionals. Your primary objective is to develop the annual local marketing strategy and lead its execution in alignment with global guidelines and the direction of the CMO. You will act as a member of the Management Committee, contributing to a unified strategic framework that guides the company's long-term development and supports effective decision-making.


Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Brand Governance


  • Develop the annual local marketing strategy and lead its planning and execution in alignment with company guidelines and the Managing Director’s vision.
  • Participate as a member of the Management Committee to define short-, medium-, and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Ensure strong product positioning, brand visibility, and competitive presence while optimizing cost and timing.
  • Identify market trends, risks, and business opportunities to strengthen the company’s market position.


Operational Excellence & Market Integration


  • Lead the marketing department in coordinating digital activities, media plans, promotional campaigns, and product launches.
  • Partner with the Sales department to analyze new product developments and identify market opportunities.
  • Prepare and propose the annual marketing budget, monitoring it closely to ensure target achievement and implementing corrective measures.
  • Organize and participate in trade fairs, congresses, and events to enhance product visibility and support distributor acquisition.


Team Development & Stakeholder Management


  • Provide effective leadership to the team, fostering a positive, motivating, and supportive working environment.
  • Coordinate internal and external communication regarding pricing, product discontinuations, and new launches.
  • Collaborate with people from various departments and international facilities within the company.
  • Act as a role model in accordance with corporate values and leadership guidelines.


Requirements


  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in Marketing, ideally within a multinational (MNC) environment.
  • Leadership: Minimum 5 years of proven management experience with the ability to lead teams and develop talent.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Digital Marketing and market analysis.
  • Language Skills: Excellent communication skills in Japanese (written and oral) and very good English skills.
  • Soft Skills: High integrity, honesty, and a strong willingness to learn and grow.
