About the Role
The Senior Manager, HR Business Partner (Japan) serves as a strategic HR leader supporting senior business stakeholders across multiple business units. Reporting into Japan HR leadership, this role is designed to elevate the HR Business Partner function from a primarily transactional model to a more strategic, value-added partner to the business.
The position requires strong autonomy, credibility, and the ability to balance hands-on HR support with longer-term organizational and people strategy initiatives. Close collaboration with global HR and business leaders is a key aspect of the role, making bilingual communication skills essential.
Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic HR partner to senior business leaders, aligning people strategy with business objectives
- Advise leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, change management, and leadership effectiveness
- Lead, coach, and develop junior HR Business Partners to raise overall HR capability and impact
- Analyze complex HR challenges related to talent management, organizational development, and employee engagement
- Design, execute, and manage HR initiatives and projects, including planning, resourcing, budgeting, and risk management
- Monitor project performance against timelines, budgets, and resource plans, adjusting as needed
- Drive and coordinate change management efforts during organizational transformation
- Collaborate closely with global HR stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including exposure to global or regional HR environments
- Strong experience partnering with senior business leaders in a complex organization
- Proven track record of leading HR transformation or large-scale HR projects
- Solid knowledge of talent management, organizational development, and engagement initiatives
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
- Fluency in both Japanese and English
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment while balancing strategic initiatives and day-to-day priorities
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
