Introduction
We are seeking a Senior Vice President for Corporate Sales covering Japanese Corporates in the Global Transaction Banking division. This is a high-impact, client-facing role based in Hong Kong, offering the opportunity to lead strategic initiatives, drive business growth, and strengthen relationships with top-tier Japanese corporate clients across the Asia-Pacific region.
About the Role
The Senior Vice President will act as a key individual contributor responsible for originating and executing deals, managing a portfolio of Japanese corporate clients, and serving as a regional champion for Japanese corporate banking across APAC. The role combines deep client engagement with strategic leadership, cross-border collaboration, and advisory responsibilities, ensuring the alignment of client priorities with the bank’s commercial objectives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to strategic Japanese corporate clients, leveraging market knowledge to identify and originate business opportunities across the region.
- Develop and manage a strong client portfolio, driving client activation, solution penetration, and long-term relationship growth.
- Provide insights and advisory services on corporate banking solutions, including lending, trade finance, working capital management, and structured finance.
- Collaborate with colleagues across APAC and globally to drive strategic planning, coordinate commercial activities, and enhance client service.
- Manage internal stakeholders, including relationship managers, risk, product specialists, and legal teams, to ensure timely and effective delivery of client solutions.
- Maintain strong knowledge of key Japanese industries such as technology, renewable energy, automotive, commodities, and natural resources.
- Participate in high-level client meetings, mega deals, and cross-border projects, offering innovative banking solutions to meet complex client needs.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate banking, transaction banking, or related areas, with extensive experience managing major Japanese corporate clients.
- Proven track record of originating and executing deals, maintaining direct access to senior decision-makers at client headquarters in Japan and across APAC.
- Strong understanding of corporate banking products, including trade finance, cash management, and structured finance solutions. Experience with ECA-backed financing is a plus.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills in both English and Japanese.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and proactive, with a demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset.
- Willingness to travel across APAC for client development and business growth activities.
- Compliance with regional regulatory standards, including mandatory reference checks as required.
