As part of its continued growth strategy, the firm is seeking an experienced sales professional to join its Wholesale Business Development team in Tokyo.
About the Role
This is a key front-office sales position within the Wholesale Distribution business, focused on developing and expanding relationships with major financial intermediaries, including banks, securities firms, trust banks, online brokers, and other distribution partners.
The successful candidate will play a leading role in identifying and securing new distribution opportunities, driving product adoption, and managing strategic client relationships at both executive and operational levels. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders across product, marketing, investment, and client-facing teams to deliver business growth and achieve sales objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and strengthen relationships with key distribution partners, engaging stakeholders from senior management through to frontline sales teams.
- Identify, originate, and secure new business opportunities and distribution mandates.
- Lead and coordinate new product launch initiatives in partnership with internal stakeholders.
- Design and execute sales strategies to achieve business growth and net sales targets.
- Develop a deep understanding of client needs and market trends, providing feedback to product and investment teams to enhance client solutions.
- Partner closely with marketing, product management, and investment professionals to support business development activities.
- Drive promotional initiatives for existing investment strategies and solutions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of capital markets, investment products, and industry developments.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sales, business development, product management, or product development within asset management or the broader financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of investment products, distribution channels, and sales practices within the Japanese financial market.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage senior-level client relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven commercial mindset with the ability to identify and execute growth opportunities.
- Strong teamwork orientation and ability to work effectively across multiple functions.
- Business-level English communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with international stakeholders.
- Professional qualifications such as CMA, CFA, or an MBA are advantageous.
