Associate Compliance Officer

Introduction

A leading global asset management firm is seeking an Associate Compliance Officer to join its Japan Compliance team. This role offers the opportunity to work across regulatory, business, and investment compliance matters while partnering closely with internal stakeholders in a fast-paced and international environment.


About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, Japan, the successful candidate will support the firm’s overall compliance framework by monitoring regulatory requirements, providing compliance advice, and assisting with investment compliance-related matters. The role will also contribute to financial crime compliance initiatives and regional/global compliance projects.


Responsibilities

  • Review marketing materials, external communications, and internal documents from a compliance perspective.
  • Provide regulatory advice and support on business-related compliance matters and incidents.
  • Support implementation of financial crime compliance frameworks and internal controls.
  • Assist with monitoring personal trading activities, gifts & entertainment controls, and employee code of ethics matters.
  • Revise and maintain internal compliance policies and procedures.
  • Build relationships with regulators and internal stakeholders while promoting a strong compliance culture.
  • Support investment compliance activities including contract analysis, investment guideline reviews, and client restriction monitoring.
  • Participate in regional and global compliance initiatives and projects.


Requirements

  • 3+ years of compliance experience within the financial services industry, preferably in asset management.
  • Experience in regulatory/business compliance or trading compliance functions.
  • Broad understanding of financial industry regulations and compliance best practices.
  • Business-level English and native-level Japanese communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and technology-focused environment is preferred.
