 About the Role

The position is at Vice President level within a Corporate Finance team covering Japan and cross-border Asia markets. The successful candidate will play a key role in originating and executing transactions involving Japanese corporates expanding into Asian markets, as well as supporting inbound capital flows from Asia into Japan.

The role also involves broader strategic advisory work, including capital raising, syndication activities, and cross-border M&A and partnership opportunities, with significant exposure to institutional investors and corporate decision-makers across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Originate and execute cross-border equity and debt capital markets transactions involving Japanese and Asian corporates
• Advise international companies on capital market entry and financing activities in Japan, including equity and bond issuance strategies
• Support Japanese corporates in accessing Asian capital markets and international investor bases through strategic financing and distribution solutions
• Participate in syndication processes and, where applicable, act in roles such as lead or co-lead manager on relevant transactions
• Develop and advise on cross-border M&A and strategic business alliance opportunities between Japanese and Asian companies
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with corporate clients, supporting ongoing financing and strategic advisory needs
• Collaborate with global corporate finance teams to contribute to revenue generation and execution of cross-border mandates
• Support business development efforts, including client coverage, pitch preparation, and market outreach
• Provide insights on Japanese industries and corporates to internal teams to support broader group-level synergies
• Ensure compliance with internal risk management frameworks, regulatory requirements, and governance standards
• Contribute to operational efficiency, including cost discipline and process improvement within the team
• Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain high standards of market and product expertise

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, finance, economics, or a related discipline
• Minimum 7 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, equity research, or investment-related roles
• Strong experience in cross-border capital markets, investment banking, or corporate advisory work
• Excellent command of financial analysis, deal execution, and client-facing presentation skills
• Fluent professional proficiency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken) is essential
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging senior executives and institutional stakeholders
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to regulatory and compliance requirements
• Ability to work independently in a lean, multicultural, and cross-border environment
• Proficiency in standard business tools including spreadsheets, presentation software, and document preparation tools
• Willingness to travel internationally as required for client engagement and marketing activities
