About the Role
The Commercial Head will be responsible for defining and executing the go-to-market strategy for the business information offering in Japan. Reporting to the Country Manager and working closely with regional leadership, this role will own revenue delivery, pipeline development, and overall commercial performance.
The position combines strategic planning with hands-on leadership, requiring the individual to optimize operations, strengthen market positioning, and scale a capable local team. It also involves close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, including marketing and regional teams, to align on growth initiatives and market engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive go-to-market strategy aligned with regional and global objectives
- Own full P&L responsibility, including revenue targets, forecasting, and budget delivery
- Build, manage, and coach a high-performing commercial team to consistently exceed targets
- Drive new business development while expanding relationships with existing clients
- Establish and maintain a strong sales pipeline and ensure disciplined CRM usage
- Optimize commercial processes and operational efficiency to support scalable growth
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments to inform strategy
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and client engagements
- Collaborate with marketing to develop impactful market-facing content and campaigns
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key industry stakeholders
- Lead hiring, onboarding, and capability development within the team
- Foster knowledge sharing and best practices across regional and global teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred
- 10–12 years of experience in sales, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role
- Proven track record of delivering revenue growth and managing commercial teams
- Experience in multinational and multicultural environments
- Strong understanding of credit risk, business information, or adjacent data-driven industries
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks related to data and financial services is advantageous
- Fluent in both English and Japanese (business to advanced level)
- Strong analytical and presentation skills, with proficiency in tools such as Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability in strategic thinking, execution, and stakeholder management
