HR Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to support business growth through strategic and hands-on HR leadership. This role partners closely with brand leadership and cross-functional teams to develop HR initiatives that align with business goals. With responsibility across talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational development, performance management, and training, the HR Manager plays a central role in shaping a strong workplace culture and supporting organizational success.


About the Role

The HR Manager will act as a strategic partner to business leaders, collaborating on HR programs and operational support to elevate both office and retail performance. This includes ensuring HR policies are effective and compliant, driving talent strategies, strengthening employee engagement, and supporting organizational development. The role also works closely with group HR functions to ensure alignment with broader HR frameworks and best practices.


Responsibilities

General Human Resources

  • Review, update, and ensure compliance of HR standards, policies, and programs with business requirements and legal regulations.
  • Collaborate with group HR teams to ensure local HR practices align with group-wide standards.
  • Utilize data and analytics to drive performance improvement across retail teams.
  • Establish KPIs and incentive programs that promote high motivation and clear accountability.
  • Develop and track annual HR budgets for both office and store operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Share business and organizational updates with group functions to maintain alignment and cohesion.
  • Actively participate in HR initiatives driven by headquarters and group HR networks.


Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies that address evolving business needs.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment including sourcing, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
  • Ensure timely hiring of candidates who are both skilled and culturally aligned.


Employee Relations

  • Establish practices that support positive employee relations, fostering high morale and motivation.
  • Manage communication channels to gather feedback, address concerns, and strengthen engagement.
  • Resolve HR-related issues promptly and fairly, ensuring a supportive and compliant environment.


Organizational Development & Performance Management

  • Lead key HR cycles including performance reviews, talent assessments, succession planning, and compensation review processes.
  • Regularly assess organizational structure and recommend changes based on business direction.
  • Support performance improvement processes and ensure employees receive appropriate guidance and coaching.


Training and Development

  • Develop and oversee company-wide training strategies, assessing effectiveness and business impact.
  • Design induction training and tailored development plans for both office and retail staff.
  • Collaborate with retail teams to ensure effective onboarding and continuous training support.


Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience in a generalist or HR business partner role.
  • Strong understanding of HR operations across recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
  • Experience in multinational or consumer-focused industries preferred.
  • Native or business-level Japanese and English proficiency.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of financial and operational drivers.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to act as a consultant to business leaders with strong influence and advisory capabilities.
  • Robust problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to leverage HR data for decision-making.
  • Strong change management capability and adaptability.
  • Leadership experience and ability to mentor team members.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and HR technology tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law and compliance.
  • High cultural awareness and ability to thrive in diverse environments.
