About the Role
In this high-visibility position, you will serve as a Senior HR Business Partner dedicated to a specific business unit or region. Reporting within the "People & Culture" function, you will act as a strategic consultant to leadership, ensuring that HR initiatives directly contribute to business success. You will operate within a sophisticated global matrix, providing the organizational strengthening and talent management necessary to maintain a competitive edge in the Japan market.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Advisory & Compliance
- Provide expert recommendations on Japanese labor laws, compliance standards, and internal HR procedures to mitigate risk.
- Educate and support line management on complex people matters under general guidance.
- Conduct ad-hoc reviews of HR systems to ensure alignment with local regulations and global standards.
Organizational Development & Value Creation
- Partner with the broader HR team to deliver high-impact programs in organizational design and succession planning.
- Drive talent and performance management initiatives, including professional development and addressing underperformance.
- Enhance manager development and internal communications to foster a high-performance culture.
Global Initiative Execution
- Lead the local implementation of global HR initiatives, ensuring they are adapted effectively for the Japanese context.
- Collaborate closely with HR Specialist departments and global Centers of Excellence (CoE).
- Prepare data-driven reports and analytics to inform senior management decision-making.
Requirements
- Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or Specialist, preferably within a global or matrixed environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Japanese labor laws and regulations.
- Language Skills: Native-level Japanese and Business-level English proficiency.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, high level of influence, and the "builder" mentality required to drive change in a proactive manner.
- Academic/Tools: Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office suite.
