About the Role
The Private Assets Sales professional will focus on expanding the firm’s footprint among Limited Partners (LPs), General Partners (GPs), and other private market participants in Japan.
As private capital markets continue to evolve with rising demand for transparency, data-driven insights, and robust analytics, the successful candidate will help institutional investors optimize their private asset portfolios using the firm’s market-leading benchmarking, analytics, and data solutions.
This role covers the full sales cycle—from prospecting and qualification through to closing and onboarding—while working closely with global teams to deliver best-in-class client outcomes.
Responsibilities
Market Development & Revenue Growth
- Originate new business with private market investors, particularly LPs and GPs in Japan.
 - Promote the firm’s suite of benchmarking, portfolio analytics, and private asset data solutions.
 - Identify and develop new opportunities aligned with commercial priorities in the private markets segment.
 - Achieve and exceed sales targets through effective pipeline and account management.
 
Strategic Sales Execution
- Manage the end-to-end sales process, including prospecting, needs assessment, solution design, pricing, negotiation, and contracting.
 - Navigate complex decision-making processes within client organizations.
 - Maintain accurate sales forecasts and CRM documentation to ensure transparency and accountability.
 
Client & Market Engagement
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with senior executives, including CIOs, Heads of Investment, Portfolio Managers, and Investor Relations professionals.
 - Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and roundtables to strengthen brand visibility and thought leadership.
 - Stay current on market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics in Japan’s private capital landscape.
 
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Product, Research, Relationship Management, and Client Service teams to deliver customized, high-value solutions.
 - Provide market and client feedback to support ongoing innovation and product development.
 - Collaborate with regional and global colleagues to ensure a seamless client experience and strategic alignment.
 
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in sales or business development within private markets, financial data, analytics, or asset management.
 - Proven track record of engaging institutional clients in private equity, private debt, or infrastructure.
 - Strong understanding of private asset performance measurement, benchmarking, and portfolio analytics.
 - Ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes and influence senior decision-makers.
 - Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills in both Japanese and English.
 - Bachelor’s degree required; advanced qualifications (MBA, CFA, CAIA, or equivalent) preferred.
 - Self-motivated, commercially minded, and collaborative, with strong integrity and initiative.
