Our client is a well-established global asset management firm with a strong presence in Japan. They are currently seeking a Manager, Business Operations to join their Operations function. This is a replacement hire following a retirement, offering the opportunity to step into a stable team and play a key role in supporting core operational activities.

 About the Role

Reporting directly to the Head of Business Operations, this position sits within the Operations, Infrastructure & Business Management division. The role focuses on overseeing fund-related documentation, reporting, and operational processes across a range of investment vehicles, including retail and institutional mandates.

You will work closely with both internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, and high-quality client servicing.

• Ensure all fund documentation is accurate, up to date, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations
• Prepare and deliver periodic (monthly, quarterly) and ad-hoc reports for institutional and pension clients
• Produce regular fund reporting materials for client distribution
• Handle ad-hoc data and reporting requests from clients and internal teams
• Oversee and support outsourced service providers, ensuring service quality and proper guidance
• Assist with fund accounting-related tasks as needed within the team
• Contribute to local and global projects led by the Japan office and headquarters
• Maintain and update internal procedures and operational manuals in line with regulatory requirements
• Liaise with external stakeholders including clients, custodians, auditors, and vendors
• Monitor vendor performance and associated costs
• Collaborate with internal departments to support broader business objectives

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in asset management or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in fund documentation and/or investment operations
• Experience across areas such as fund accounting, fund administration, regulatory reporting, and client reporting (institutional/pension exposure preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Japanese financial regulations (e.g., Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, relevant industry rules)
• Strong communication skills in both Japanese and English
• Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support a wide range of operational tasks
