People & Culture Business Partner

People & Culture Business Partner

We are currently supporting a strategic search for a sophisticated HR professional to join a premier global real estate and integrated facilities services firm. This is a critical vacancy within a high-growth business unit transitioning toward specialized technical and engineering solutions, requiring an HRBP who can navigate complex organizational shifts with poise.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Head of HR for Japan with a functional dotted line to the APAC HR leadership, you will serve as the dedicated People Business Partner for the Local Accounts division. As a senior individual contributor, your mission is to stabilize and elevate the people strategy for a business unit shifting its core focus toward "hard services" and engineering.

You will act as the primary strategic advisor to the Head of Area Business in Japan, balancing high-level organizational design with the hands-on execution of labor management. The "vibe" of this role is one of high autonomy and influence; you are expected to be a grounded partner who can translate regional strategy into practical, site-level success while managing a diverse stakeholder map of over 90% Japanese leadership.

Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnering

  • Lead the translation of national HR strategies into localized, actionable plans for the business unit.
  • Partner with senior leaders to architect organizational changes as the business pivots toward technical service delivery.
  • Drive annual people cycles including performance management, compensation planning, and talent reviews.

Employee Relations & Labor Compliance

  • Manage complex employee relations cases with a focus on risk mitigation, performance improvement plans, and exit communications.
  • Oversee intricate labor management issues specific to a site-based workforce, including shift work, variable hours, and Article 36 compliance.
  • Ensure all people operations remain strictly aligned with Japan Labor Law and regional compliance standards.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Develop the capabilities of senior leaders and their direct reports through tailored coaching and succession planning.
  • Design and deliver training initiatives focused on labor basics, harassment prevention, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Collaborate on senior-level recruitment to ensure the leadership pipeline matches the business's evolving technical requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience: 8–10+ years of HR experience in Japan, specifically within an HRBP or Generalist capacity.
  • Industry Background: Prior experience supporting technical, engineering, or manufacturing workforces is highly preferred over financial services.
  • Labor Law Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of Japan Labor Law and experience managing complex Employee Relations (ER).
  • Language Skills: Native-level Japanese (N1) is mandatory to support local stakeholders; Business-level English is required for regional reporting.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation skills, high integrity, and the ability to influence senior Japanese business leaders.
  • Education: University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Why Apply?

  • Strategic Visibility: Direct access and advisory status to the Head of Area Business and APAC regional HR leadership.
  • Organizational Impact: Play a pivotal role in a major business transformation from soft services to high-value technical services.
  • Exceptional Flexibility: Enjoy a modern, flexible hybrid work model that prioritizes output over physical office attendance.
  • Stability & Prestige: Join the undisputed global leader in the real estate services sector during a period of robust local growth.
  • Career Trajectory: Benefit from a culture of internal mobility—this vacancy exists specifically because the previous incumbent was promoted internally.
