Introduction

We are seeking a seasoned sales professional to join a leading financial services organization in Tokyo as a Vice President/Director in Retail Sales. This role offers the opportunity to lead client relationship initiatives, grow assets under management, and contribute to the development of a high-performing sales team.


 About the Role

The VP/Director of Retail Sales will be responsible for managing and expanding relationships with institutional and individual clients. Reporting to the Head of Retail Sales, the role involves driving business growth, maintaining strong client coverage, and ensuring effective delivery of the firm’s resources and solutions to meet client needs. The position also plays a key part in mentoring junior team members and strengthening team capabilities.


Responsibilities

  • Grow assets by acquiring new clients and expanding relationships with existing clients.
  • Maintain and deepen relationships with current clients through continuous coverage and proactive engagement.
  • Understand client needs and deliver tailored solutions to meet expectations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure clients receive effective access to the firm’s resources.
  • Contribute to team development, including mentoring and supporting junior staff.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of market trends, products, competitors, and financial institutions.
  • Support team-building initiatives to enhance departmental performance and cohesion.


Requirements

  • Extensive experience in sales within the financial services industry.
  • Solid understanding of market dynamics, products, competitors, and financial institutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Business-level proficiency in English for reading and writing; basic conversational English skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
  • Professional certifications such as CMA and/or CFA are preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute to organizational growth.
